You never want to drive around when your brakes aren’t functioning properly. You could be endangering yourself, your family, and other drivers on the road if your brakes aren’t working like they should; let Trustworthy Auto inspect your brakes, so you and your family can drive comfortably and stop safely.
Disc Brakes use calipers to squeeze pads against a disc/rotor to create friction causing your car to slow down or remain motionless. Disc brakes are usually used for the front tires because they are more efficient at handling the weight of the car as it is thrown forward when stopping; however some cars use disc brakes on all four wheels.
Drum Brakes push drum shoes against the inside of the drum which cause the rotation of the brake drum to slow down and reduce the speed of your vehicle. Once you release the brake the return springs pull the drum shoes back to their original position. Drum brakes are usually used on the rear wheels or on all four wheels of smaller or older cars.
How To Tell If You Need Your Brakes Repaired Or Replaced
Your brakes are squealing or grinding
Your brake pedal feels soft and spongy
Your car jerks to the side when stopping
The steering column shakes
Your car feels unsteady at high speeds
The anti-lock braking system (ABS) warning light is on
When should I get my brakes inspected?
An annual brake inspection will help you and your family feel safe. At Trustworthy Auto we will perform a full inspection of your brakes to determine what repairs, if any, are needed.
